Book presentation « Rus` religious culture of Vilno (XVI - the first third of the XVII century)
Presentation of a monograph devoted to the study of Rus` religious culture of early modern times called “Vilna” -a kind of "Rus` Babylon". In the work, based on a huge source base, modern tools and an interdisciplinary approach, special attention is paid to the history of Rus` centres of religious revival. The study focuses on the analysis of Rus` book publishing as a mirror of Rus` religious culture. An important narrative source is the polemical work of Hypatius Potius about the Brest Cathedral (1597), subjected to hermeneutic analysis. Another analysed monument is Lev Krevza’s funeral sermon about the funeral of Josafat Kuntsevich (1625) aimed at a high level of development of Rus’ religious culture.
